Kirsty Darkins, Chartered Commercial Surveyor and founder of KD Commercial, has a wealth of knowledge and experience in the industry and is passionate about helping others learn how to invest in commercial property.
Kirsty’s career in property starting 1999 working for blue chip companies including Boots, CBRE and Hammerson. She has a broad range of property and business experience having built, led and developed teams managing multi million commercial and residential property portfolios.
In the lead up to setting up her businesses, Kirsty took a career break in 2014, did some travelling and a lot of reading and self development education. This was the beginning of her transition from property professional to property investor.
From 2016, Kirsty focused on building her consultancy business, property network and portfolio of commercial property investments including retail, office and mixed use properties.
Today Kirsty’s main focus is building her own commercial property investment portfolio with her business partners within our JK PropCo and Wem Commercial brands, one pure commercial investment the other commercial developments. The current portfolio is valued at £1.4m with rental income totaling £130,000 pa, which will increase on completing asset management opportunities. Kirsty transferred her pensions to a SIPP investing jointly with other SIPP investors in commercial development projects.
I am now sharing my 20 years of experience mentoring a small number of private investors, offering focused mentoring. This is tailored specifically for those who want to learn how to invest in commercial property themselves, how to find the opportunities and build a portfolio. I also continue to consult for property developers and funds on an ad hoc basis, asset managing commercial properties to maximise values and disposing of surplus stock.
Kirsty’s ultimate aim is for commercial property to provide a stable passive income to enable a flexible lifestyle that allows her to fulfill her passion of helping others, in business, through charitable causes and urban regeneration of the places we live, work and play.
Kirsty is a familiar face online and in person. She is a regular guest speaker at property events around the UK and has been featured in many property podcasts including The Game of Loans , The HMO Success Podcast and Wealthbuilders Podcasts.
In 2023 Kirsty Darkins was invited to join the judging panel on The Property Graduate feature on The Property Channel, SKY 186.
